While our CASA children all have roots in Sumner County, their circumstances can lead them to reside almost anywhere in Tennessee and even across state lines on some occasions. Some are with family or kinship placements, some in licensed foster homes and some with one or both parents.
In this month, CASA staff have made home and school visits across Sumner County, and also into neighboring counties and cities as needed (and snapped a few pics on the way). Our volunteer advocates do the same every month, traveling to make contact with their assigned youth, to get a first-hand understanding of their situations, to better advocate for their best interest.
We believe that every child deserves strong and supportive adults in their lives, as well as a safe and nurturing environment to grow and develop. Our staff and advocates literally go the extra mile to meet the children and families where they are, to ensure their wellbeing. We are always in need of more ‘boots on the ground’ and currently have a waitlist of children with no assigned advocate.
